Sderot, Israel is a rather small town that sits closely to the Gaza strip (one kilometer) as well as the Negev desert. If one was to type “Sderot” into an internet search engine it is likely that the vast majority of the subjects they would find are articles on Kassam rockets. Kassams are all too familiar to the 20,000 + citizens of Sderot as more than hundreds of rockets have pummeled the city over recent years.
Our mission for Sderot is to bring them hope for today and hope for the future; a future that is threatened day after day. In Sderot, the tension is evident but the desire for survival, and survival without fear, is even more evident.
Our work has been well received throughout all of Israel; by reaching out blessing one small city we have been able to bless an entire country. We have served by renovating community centers, delivering food, and providing dental care through Bridges for Smiles.
Through the generous support of House of David friends and partners the city of Sderot has been lifted up and found hope…not hope in a building or dental care but hope in the fact that we care and we care enough to come and to serve. We did not look away when we saw their hurt… we acted. We have stood beside them when Kassams were being fired into the city—we did not run away. House of David has been a friend to Sderot year after year and you can help!
