Shavuot, the Feast of Pentecost

The following narrative is taken from the book “Your People Shall Be My People”, by Don Finto.

Shavuot or Pentecost (Feast of Weeks, also known as the Feast of Harvest) rejoices in God's providential care. The first Shavuot occured at the time of the giving of the Law on Mount Sinai. That Law was the precursor of another law and another harvest--the law written not on tablets of stone but on the tablets of the human heart (see Jer. 31:33). It was Pentecost morning, 50 days after Jesus' crucifixion, when the breath of the Spirit blew through Jerusalem, inscribing this new law of love--law of life--on the hearts of the waiting disciples (see Acts 2:1-4; Rom. 8:1,2).
